Ethical Issue in an Organization
In today organizations companies have to be very careful and keep a close watch on the ethical issue that can arise. With everything changing so fast and people always on the look out about ethical situations companies have to stay on step ahead. In this paper I will be going over an ethical issue and be clarifying the issue, stakeholder’s analysis, identifying the value, resolution, objections, and implementing a resolution.
Sexual harassment is probably the biggest ethical issues corporate America runs into. Sexual harassment by definition is unwelcome sexual advances made by an employer or superior, esp. when compliance is made a condition of continued employment or advancement. (Dictionary) However, today that term has so many different meanings and people decipher that term in so many ways. Now sexual harassment can be seen as a hostile environment. Examples of hostile environment situations include telling jokes or stories of a sexual nature; unwelcome touching, such as patting or hugging; displaying suggestive or sexually explicit photographs, posters, or calendars; or making suggestive facial expressions or gestures. Companies have to be very careful when it comes to this issue that is why when people are first hired on they have to take a course or test to cover the companies back. In some companies they have the employees at least once a year take a test to keep this issue at bay.
Stakeholders have a big part when it comes to ethical issues within the company. When issues of this nature happen it will affect everyone even if they are not directly involved. Depending on the company it could affect other employees, customers or other companies that might involved. If a company was small enough and a case like this happened it could shut done everything or even lead to layoffs.
