Explain how you could promote inclusion, equality and diversity with your current / future learners. Identify other points of referral available to meet the needs of the potential learners.
During my NVQ training / assessing session’s inclusion would be about tailoring the content and delivery methods to ensure the participation of all the candidates trying not to exclude anyone either directly or indirectly. During the initial assessment of the candidates it will be essential that all of their learning needs and requirements are identified and carried forward to their training plans. Practical team exercises which include transfer of roles within the team will aid the interaction of the whole group and act as a good form of ice breaker. All of my candidates, when they branch out on their own NVQ plan’s, will work at different paces due to either self motivation or the environment in which they work, but it will be my job as the assessor of a group of candidates to ensure that they are all catered for when group academic sessions are required. Where additional sessions are required, due to area’s of weakness being identified through the assessment process, it will again be my responsibility to provide the necessary ongoing support or identify organisations/experts that can provide it where they lie outside of my competencies.
Equality within my sector, where all candidates are recent school leavers, would be about identifying the rights of all my candidates regardless of gender, race, ethnic origin, religion, disability or sexual orientation. At all times, I must ensure that course documentation and resources are appropriate and non-discriminatory. Where external organisations are required for specific training needs I would be required to initially inspect the facilities (risk assessments) to ensure that all of my candidates are catered for, ie toilet facilities, wheel chair access, and resources where English...
