In this section of this report I will be discus the different features, abilities and prices of the three operating systems. These operating systems will be the following:

• Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (Recommended)

• Apple OS X

• Ubuntu 10.10





Microsoft Windows 7 Professional

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional is the latest version of Microsoft Windows. The basic requirements to run Windows 7 are as follows:

• 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor.
• 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit).
• 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit).
• DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver.

Windows 7 Professional combines all the features of Windows 7 Starter and Home Premium, giving the user more features. Windows 7 allows you run programs that are designed or older Microsoft operating systems like, Windows XP. (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/compare/default.aspx, November 26th 2010) This means that if the company was wishing to install older programs or programs they have specifically developed for them, which were designed for Windows XP, they may still run the programs on Windows 7.

The ability to connect to company networks easily and more securely with Domain Join. (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/compare/default.aspx, November 26th 2010) This allows all computers to connect to the network easily, unlike windows 7 Home edition. This is a very important as if a computer is not able to connect to a Domain, it will not be on the network.

Windows 7 Professional has the ability to do a full system back-up and restore, which is available across all of the Windows 7 Editions. However professional has the ability to back up to a network....
