Select an Activity
Outline all the Physical, Skill related and Mental Aspects of Fitness required.
You should know the definitions of the aspects of fitness and specific examples of the impact they have on your performance in the activity.
Know which energy systems are linked to the aspects of fitness.
You should know your strengths and weaknesses in the activity in relation to the aspects of fitness
You should know how to gather data on the aspects of fitness within the activity and why the methods are appropriate
You should know how to gather data on the aspects of fitness outwith the activity and why these methods are appropriate. You must know the exact detail of how the fitness tests are carried out. Make sure you know at least 1 test for physical fitness and 1 for skill related. The easiest skill related one to do is the Illinois Agility run
Select a specific aspect of fitness that you need to improve in your selected activity.
Know SPORT FIT
Be able to define each principle of training.
Be able to relate each principle of training to the specific aspect of fitness
Give specific examples of how you applied each principle of training to develop your aspect of fitness.
Be able to relate intensity to the correct training zone
Know which energy system you are trying to improve.
Know at least 3 methods of training that you can use to develop your aspect of fitness. 1 within the activity and 2 outwith the activity. Be able to describe these methods in detail in relation to your selected activity and the aspect of fitness you are trying to improve.
Write up an outline of an 8 week training programme that shows application of the principles of training especially progressive overload after week 4 or 5 to avoid training plateau.
