Metamorphic Rocks
Metamorphic rocks originate from deep below the earth’s surface, near the crust. Sedimentary rocks are formed into metamorphic rocks through extreme heat and pressure. Pressure near the earth’s crust is very dense causing extreme temperatures to the rocks. Metamorphisms usually occurs at 400° C. 400° of temperature and pressure can produce a low grade metamorphic, equivalent to slate. When rocks are exposed to more extreme temperatures and pressure it creates a higher grade of metamorphic rocks.
