Easy or Difficult? March 27, 2014

How do you feel about being “green” and saving the planet? Is it difficult or easy? You think it’s easy? Well, I think it is difficult. There are many reasons why it is difficult to be green. Reasons such as, earth friendly/green products being too expensive, the way we get our food and medicine, and people not wanting to reduce their consumption.
Being green isn’t all that easy. Actually, being green cost a lot more than you would think. Did you know that a solar panel can cost around $4,500-$12,000? That’s a lot! “You stroll out of your bedroom in your eco-McMansion, with its photovoltaic solar-panels, into the kitchen remodeled with reclaimed lumber, enter the three-car garage lighted by energy-sipping fluorescent bulbs and slip behind the wheel of your $104,000 Lexus Hybrid.” (Buying Into the Green Movement by Alex Williams) Do you think this is easy? Being green cost millions of dollars! Some people cannot afford this. A popular vision people have about saving the planet is waking up from the sumptuous hemp-fiber sheets of your bed and putting on a new pair of $245 organic cotton Levi’s and an Armani biodegradable knit shirt. But this is hard for most people; they can’t just pull out a million dollars from their pocket. It’s just stupid.
Another reason it is difficult to be green is people not wanting to reduce their consumption of things. Did you know that we have ran out of places to throw things because some of the things we are throwing out are poisoning the Earth and will eventually poison all of us and all living things? Some people don’t even care. They don’t want to recycle or take any action towards being green or saving the planet.
“Trash collectors are a lot more independent than they used to be because we’ve got more trash than they’ve got places to put it!” It is hard to convince people to reduce their consumption of things because they...
