The good type of fat is something such as omega-3 fats which are essential to physical and emotional health. Monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats are the good fats foods that include the good fat are foods like sunflower seeds, different types of oils from different vegetables, soymilk, peanut butter, walnuts, and flaxseeds. Trans fats and saturated fats are the one you want to look out for food that have them are candy, ice cream, high fat cuts of meat, lard, and butter so pretty much all the junk everyone like eat on a day to day basis. The only way to really avoid eating trans and saturated fats is to check the label every time you eat something and if it’s too high in fat then find a better alternative. Fat intake should only be up to 20-35% of calories a day. Good fats can become bad when damaged by oxygen, light, or heat they need to be kept in a temperature controlled area. Omega-3 fatty acid are good for you by preventing heart disease, cancer. It can reduce depression and help with arthritis pains in joints. They work in your brain to help your memory, sharpen your problem solving abilities and balance your moods. EPA, DHA, and ALA are good sources of omega-3 fat, EPA and DHA are found in fish in cold waters. ALA is found in different types of oils and plants, it isn’t as concentrated as EPA and DHA. Like fat there is good and bad cholesterol. HDL is the good kind and LDL is the bad kind.
