A hero is usually perceived as an exceptional person set out on a quest to defeat a form of monster for the greater good of humanity. Heroes come in many forms, their quests differ, and the monsters vary, but their intentions are always selfless. I see my grandmother as a hero because she is an exceptional person on a quest to enhance my life to the best of her ability by sharing her wisdom, stressing the importance of family, and being very supportive of my decisions.
My grandmother has attained an outstanding amount of wisdom throughout her lifetime as she has confronted and overcome many of life’s challenges. She sees it to be essential to share that wisdom with me so that I may have the knowledge I need to overcome the challenges I will face in my own life. In times of adversity, my grandmother has reached out to me by relating to similar conflicts she has encountered and explaining how she dealt with them. To me, she exemplifies the American value of simply helping others by sharing wisdom and providing advice.
Family is something my grandmother emphasizes to be the most important aspect of life. She has given me the mindset that family will always be there, while friends come and go. My grandmother remains well connected within our family and is quick to solve any problems that may occur between family members.
A strong support system is essential for any type of foundation, and my grandmother provides a very strong support system to the foundation of my life. She believes that I am in a stage of my life where I should be able to make my own decisions, and so long as my decisions are ethical, she stands behind them and will help me achieve my goals.
