Section I: What I know, Assume, or Imagine

The topic that we are researching is about the diseases in Central Africa. We are interested in this topic because diseases are currently one of Africa’s main issues. We are interested to know the types of diseases the people in Central Africa have. We want to learn more about the roots of these diseases and what steps people are taking in order to help prevent or cure these diseases. We already know that there is a lack of hygiene so several diseases are easily spread. Due to a lack of sources in Central Africa, people usually have unprotected sex causing diseases such as HIV/AIDS. There are too many people crowded into small areas so it is easier for diseases to spread around as well. We also are aware that HIV and AIDS seem to be one of the biggest problems and diseases in Central Africa, or just Africa in general. Central Africa is not a very developed country. Due to the many diseases that are being spread, the life expectancy is lower than many other regions. The risk of catching an infectious disease is very high and common. Although life in Central Africa seems as if it is full of disease, progress has been made over the past couple of years. People all over the world are trying to pitch in and help Africa. People are offering free checks but the only issue seems to be that people are too lazy or the clinics are too far away because it is very rare to have an automobile in Africa, so most walk by feet.
What we want to know about our topic is why nobody has taken charge of stopping these diseases from spreading. Because medical care is not provided, adults have to live with these diseases. When a mother is pregnant and is HIV positive, it is possible for HIV to be transmitted from the mother to child at birth. Another major disease in Central Africa is malaria.
