Question: How do you see the world in 20 years from now?
Key Words: How, You, See, World, 20 years, from now.
Contention: Technological and Medical breakthroughs and the “convenient” lifestyle will lead the world to be a place lacking human lifestyle and contact and based on convenience.
TSI: Virtual worlds will impair human’s social skills and cause psychological problems.
E.g. Social Isolation, People may become addicted to these worlds and not live in the real world, contributing to unemployment etc. You lack interaction in the real world which may impair how you act in social situations. The transfer from the virtual world and real world can be difficult and cause problems. Neuroscientist say people with more than one avatar may become mpd. People living in virtual worlds will not deal with the problems they face which can be damaging. Can tear family interaction apart.
TS2: Medical breakthroughs will prolong life, leading to an ever aging population.
E.g. Cancer breakthroughs and all that are great for younger people and children with diseases and mothers and families, however this will indefinitely lead to an ageing population. Where will we put the older population, how can we support them, how will they get money, soon enough older people will have to work until 65 just to have enough money to support themselves especially considering the raise in pension age in Australia. Also considering the birth rates which have been lowered in Australia, our population will be mainly aged.
TS3: Human’s will become dependent on artificial intelligence, interrupting their human lifestyle.
Cars that drive themselves or constant chain of learning will stop due to artificial intelligence doing everything for us etc. Our intelligence is based on physical interaction with the outside world, and if rely on artificial intelligence we will lose that intelligence. We will lose our decision making skills and responsibility when we most need it.
