REDWOOD NATIONAL FOREST
BIOTIC COMPONENT - PLANT
• Many plants can be found on the floor of
the Redwood Forest (if you can take your
eyes off the trees to observe them!). One
common species is the Red Clintonia.
• Most often found hugging the coast, this
plant is found almost nowhere but the
Redwood Forest.
• Found by streams, this plant loves the
soft, loose soil the watery soil provides.
• Blooming from February to May, the
bright red flowers provide a pop of color
on the densely green forest floor.
