LESSONS CLASS WORK DONE FOR SBA 2011 DAY 2
HW: FINISH EXCEL, DATABASE AND WORD. REVISE PROGRAMMING.
STEP1
Design the Tables: Candidate, Acronym, Constituency .
Ensure that you insert a Candidate ID in candidate Table and set it as Autonumber.
Set the data types of fields appropriately eg Address-Text, Name-Text, Date of Birth-Date/Time.
Set the field size appropriately eg Field Sex only 1 changed from 255 ,
Set validation rules eg Sex – M or F.

FORM RELATIONSHIPS

Add the tables or queries to form relationships
NB. In order to form relationships the fields must be of the same data type
Drag from the Many side to the One side table or vice versa eg from Candidate Table drag Party Acronym to Acronym in the Acronym Table , a window appears “Edit Relationships” for you to check box off referential integrity and two others cascade up and down check off all. If you have errors in the data you would be informed.
Hint: before populating your tables make the relationships …
But when the relationship is done you need to add data to the one side tables first ie add data to the Acronym and Constituency tables first

Try to change the calculated field below to actually calculate age and not only show the DOB.

WORDPROCESSING
This section requires you to use mail merging feature of Ms Word to send out the same letter to multiple election candidates.
Step1
Design the letter first, leaving out the areas in the letter that would change for each candidate like his name his address etc(these are areas where the merge field should be placed) ,that must be sent to all make sure to include just as the SBA instructions says and the report from the database.
