Of the three geographic regions I have chosen to pick the following: Asia, The Middle East, and Africa. I will start my essay with the geographic region of Asia. I will focus in on the region of the Huang He River, also known at the yellow river. It was located towards the northern part of China. China was very reliant on their agricultural system therefore they became reliant on rivers for irrigation to have a good harvest. One of the rivers that would playa major role is the Huang He River. They had both negative and positive effects on China and its people. For this essay I will have to point out its negative effects. The major effect is that major flooding occurred sometimes. When this occurred the crops would be destroyed. Home would also be washed away and cattle would drown or disappear. This would affect the people a lot. Some of the storms were so strong that they would break levees and flatten land and turn it into plains. This is why this was a bad geographic location.
The second region that I will focus in on is what we call the Middle East. I will focus in on the civilization of Mesopotamia which is also called the “land between two rivers”. I will emphasize the geographic location and how it was definitely a negative effect on their societies. First of their societies focused more on intellectual ideas which led to things such as the development of cuneiform. They lacked concentration on their military defenses. Since they were literally a land between two rivers, they had to defend all four points (northern end, southern end, eastern end, and the western end). They were incapable of doing this because it was easy to penetrate and invade from all ends of the empire. The result was the conquering of their native land. These are some of the reasons as to why the civilization did not last long because of the location and the difficulty to defend it.
For my final region I have chosen Latin America. I will focus in on the civilization of the Incas....
