The Flower Carrier

The Flower carrier was painted by Diego Rivera in 1935. It is an Oil and tempera on masonite painting found in San Francisco’s Museum of Modern Art. The painting describes a woman safely holding on to a basket attached onto a kneeling man’s back. It is suspected that he is going to a market to sell the flowers he has pick. By the load he has picked you can come to believe that if he doesn’t pick enough, he can afford to feed his family back home. The original Spanish title of Rivera's painting is "Cargador de flores."
I really liked the simplicity of this painting. It wasn’t too detailed (apart from the basket). I think Diego Rivera used the perfect colours when painting this picture. It also has very good representation of difficult farming was in those times. The Flower carrier was painted by Diego Rivera in 1935.
