Jang, Sung Joon did an analysis and review of a type of study. In this study Jang reported that the study towards Sampson and Laub's the statistics of instable adolescence is influenced nationally by underage drinking. Statistics also show that the behavior of binge drinking between adolescence and emerging adulthood is highly influenced (Jang, S. J. 2013). Jang reported when he came across his study that, "marriage and involvement in religious and volunteer activities during the transition to adulthood decrease binge drinking among those who engaged in the behavior during adolescence" (Jang, 2013). Therefore for those who did not, their marriage and social engagement where having results that would function as an insulator; being a positive support to decrease their necessity of drinking during emerging adulthood (Jang, 2013).
Underage drinking has been a national issue. It is an issue that doesn’t respect age, race, color, or even religion. With this article reviewed by Jang, we find the statistics of the population affected by this issue. It will also provide a definition of what binge drinking means and where it is seen the most.
Research Questions
In this article Jang reviewed statistics that originated from the “National Drug Control Strategy” (NCDS). It stated that the population that abuses drinking is college and university students. The data also stated that 40 – 45% of fulltime students binge drink. The research question of what binge drinking means is reviewed in this article. It is defined as: having five or more drinks, within thirty days on the same occasion. Jang reports in this article all the negative results from binge drinking; there are short and long term results.
