Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s “ The handsomest Drowned Man in the world” begins with a group of children playing on the beach. When the boys spot a dead body of a man washed to the beach. The children play with the body all afternoon and were stopped only when a passing man happen to see them. The drown man was heavy, tall, and very large. When the people of the village took the drown man to the nearest house, they noticed that he was so large nothing in the village fit him. Immediately, they knew he is not from their village, because his size and the way he looked. By the night, the women begin cleaning him, and the men went to the neighboring villages to see if there was anyone missing. While, the women were cleaning the man body they were thinking about the life the man had, however, they decided to name him “Esteban” because of his beauty he had.
When the men came back to the village and said he does not belong to any neighboring villages the women said, “ he is our’s.” “The men thought the fuss was only womanish frivolity”, and all they wanted was to get rid of him. Because he got their waives feelings and the are taking more care of him which makes all the men get Jealous. When it was the time to through Esteban back to the sea, they realize that he would forever be a part of them, and they also knew that Esteban's memory would forever remain with them. When they were standing by the cliffs, the villagers became aware of the dryness of their courtyards. Finally, they let him go from the cliff, and they realized that they want to change everything in the village, like they will plant flowers, color their houses. They would do this all in the hope that, in years to come, their little village would become known as the place where Esteban lived.
