Although bit Mary and Edward had different religious views it can be said that there religious policies shared many similarities and differences with each other, for example there were many differences to each other.
Many of the policies in Mary's reign were the complete opposite to Edwards as she was trying to undo all of what Edward had done. For example in source A Edward says about how he thinks that people in England should preach which was a very Protestant view, however in source B Mary says 'she commands all her subjects not to preach' this shows how there policies were very different, however it can be said that this was a similarity of their policies as the topic of their policies are the same. This can be seen in many cases between the three sources.
For example in source A Edward mentions that he wants his Bishops to be chosen for their wisdom and religion and they are again mentioned in the source written during Mary's reign however the topic of them is very different as it is said that Bishops are being killed and this could have been due to Edward as he wanted Bishops to be picked for their religion, which was Protestantism, and during the reign of Mary she would have killed these chosen Bishops as she was a Catholic, so this could show how there policies are again different.
Another way in which there religious policies were different was the religion both rulers were, Edward being Protestant and Mary being Catholic, this alone would mean that their religious policies would be very different as they followed and believed in different views of how religion should be, and even in source B Mary says herself how she 'sees the great dangers caused by religious differences', this was written at the start of her reign and shows that she does not intend on keeping the same religion as the previous ruler,Edward, had followed and is going to make great changes in the running of the Church.
