Kennedy's domestic program was known as the “New Frontier”. The new frontier proposed that it would improve the economy, education, healthcare, and Civil Rights. In Kennedy’s fight against poverty he helped pass the Equal Pay Act of 1963. It required equal wages for “equal Work” in industries. Deficit spending was a theory made by John Maynard, it was thought that it would borrow money in order to spend more than what is received from taxes. In 1963 Kennedy made Dramatic tax cuts for the Middle-class Americans so that more money would be put in the pockets of more people. At that time he also increased the tax burden on wealthier citizens. Kennedy was afraid to anger the conservatives (usually white southerners in congress under his own political party) because they stood ready to block any civil rights legislation. During the early 1963 Kennedy Introduced a civil rights bill that demanded prosecution for voting-rights Violations and federal money to aid school desegregation. But more violence in the south made Kennedy introduce stronger civil rights legislation. One of Kennedy’s most adventurous quests was the race to space. This is when millions of dollars were put into the space program to beat The Soviet Union into space. Kennedy didn’t beat them to space but he did beat them to landing the first man on space. JFK’s foreign affairs were mostly S.U. Provoked. Kennedy gave Eisenhower the permission to invade Cuba in the Bay Of Pigs. At this time Kennedy wanted to use a “flexible Response” defense policy so instead of bombing he would send in special forces instead of bombing cities. He also sent American Volunteers around the world on “missions of freedom” to assist 3rd world countries. The Alliance for Progress promised to resurrect America’s Good Neighbor policy toward Latin America.
