Abortion
Abortion is the deliberate killing of the weakest and most defenseless among us. Many women all over the world have abortions. There are many reasons to consider having an abortion such as fear of having or raising a child, bad financial situations or lack of responsible parents. But whatever the case, whatever the cost, the only plausible reason to have an abortion is rape. The child deserves a chance at life no matter how they were conceived or how bad you may feel giving them up for adoption. At least they have a chance! Human values, religious values, and most of all, your personal conscience, should all play a role in deciding not to have an abortion.
All humans across the globe value life. So why are we so quick to accept abortion? The child did not ask to be born. They have no control or responsibility over the situation that you put them into. Abortion is the second most common surgical procedure in the United States. "It was not the decision of 269 million Americans that legalized abortion, but a majority vote out of nine Supreme Court justices that took morals into their own hands. There was no consensus here – only totalitarianism." (McMahon M., n.d.) It really gets me that what could have been one of the most important decisions of that time, in terms of humanitarianism, was not up to the people and was taken out of our hands. Most people don't think about the child, and are too concerned with what is going to happen in their lives. I don't believe most people have the knowledge or understanding needed to decide something like this. The choice of life and death is not one to be taken lightly and I fear it is by far too many people. Adoption is a great alternative for these children. You may feel bad having to give up your baby, but what's worst? Letting them live out their lives somewhere else, or killing them before they have a chance?
