I signed up for AP Literature because I love to challenge myself. I strongly dislike reading, writing, and everything else an English class involves because it isn't a strong suit of mine. But, I'm the type of person that will work hard to become better at all literary aspects.
After taking AP Language, and going in to and out of the AP test confidently I received a 2, which only furthered my disgust of English. My main goal this year is to not only pass the AP exam but to be able to end the year with a positive connotation of English classes which will only come from confidence in the material. I am looking forward to reaching these goals in which I was unable last year. I am aware of the value of English education and how crucial it is, which is why it is frustrating for me to never succeed in this subject. I'm looking forward to being challenged in this class. I also want to work on making sure I understand the material instead of only worrying about my grade. That's also something that I struggle with. I hope that I absorb as much as I can in this class and use it to help me succeed in the future. I want to stay motivated to want to do the work and put in the effort to understand the material. One thing I really want to work on is reading comprehension. That is one of my worst areas. So far it seems like we will be working with many different types of literature from many different time periods which will not only be really interesting but it will be very helpful for me. I’m also looking forward to working on my writing. That is also one of my other weaker areas. I hope that I can build confidence this year considering how frequent and crucial writing is in college.
