Machiavelli and His Belief in a Society Ruled by a Prince

Machiavelli:
It’s crucial to understand the people and the ruler of any society. Machiavelli believes that once a land is conquered by a Prince, it will be easier to rule because the people will fear and respect this prince.
The elite hold the mentality of the rulers. The elite view the prince as equal to themselves. They feel that they helped the prince attain the position. They expect respect from the princes.The ellite need to understand that they are made by the princes and the princes have to option to make and unmake them noble, rich, and so forth.
Ordinary people want to live in safety. If they receive this leverage they will show gratitude to the prince because they are not competitive with the elite. They will even be glad if the prince gets the elite out of their property.
In other words, Machiavelli wants to suppress the elite, and/or even kill them. He recognizes that the people are the military power.The people do not desire to rule but rather seek to be safe and covet to achieve their own objectives. He wants his readers and princes to understand that the people are many and the elite are just a few. He thinks the smarter bet is to have the people on your side at all times.
In Machiavelli’s terms the society is divided into two types of classes; the one that want too rule over everyone,also known as the elite and the ones that do not want to be ruled, known as the ordinary people.That being said, this does not mean that people are any less selfish than the elite,but their own interests are more limited than those of the elite.This is one of the reasons that ordinary people don’t have the desire to rule over other people. It is easier to get power through support of the people because they don’t want to be oppressed. If the ruler appears as their protestor the people will give their support. People need someone to protect them from the elite. The prince are rivals with the elite.
