Changing America Through Strong Words
Martin Luther King Jr. (January 15, 1929-April 04, 1969) was one of the most influential and inspiring figures of all time. Although the world knows him mainly as a civil rights activist, he was also a scholar, pastor, and a visionary with the strength and will to succeed. He was a very knowledgeable man. In 1948, Martin Luther King Jr. earned a sociology degree from Morehouse College. He worked hard in all his studies, and was valedictorian of his class. He used his knowledge for the better and used his words in his fight for equality. His words are still remembered and passed on till this very day. With one of the most famous speeches of all time his, “I have a dream” speech he persuaded the Heart of America and planted the seed for America to change its ways and begin a new world. Through his journey in life all he ever wanted was for all races to come together and be as one. He succeeded in his quest to gain rights for all colored people whether they were white, black, and even Hispanic. He was part of many different events in history. He was part of the Montgomery bus boycott, which King was elected to lead the boycott because he was young, and well-trained. King was part of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), which gave African Americans a means of making their voices heard. They tried to bring everyone together through non-violent protests all across the nation by doing sit-ins, speeches, and gatherings. He encouraged a new way of life. Although he had several disputes with authority, he always knew what to do and how to handle the situation. Till this day MLK is celebrated for his courage and perseverance. His actions were wide spread all across the nation and created a better future for us Americans.
