1. Learn the social worker role
Shadow social workers
Attend court and home visits
Interview workers to learn about what they do
Resources: Workers and reading material located in lobby.
Evaluation: Talk with advisor about the experiences I have gained while shadowing man different positions
Week 2
2. Attend home visits
Talk with social workers to know what to expect
Learn about clients before attending
Attend visit
Resources: Social workers and Tina Sparkman.
Evaluation: At the end of the practicum the advisor will grade performance.

3. Learn how to check clients in
Observe front office workers
Learn about kynect
Talk to clients as they approach the window
Resources: Front office workers
Evaluation: Talk with Tina to make sure I understand the role
4. Learn computer system
Fully understand the kynect computer system
Observe workers use system
Help workers use system
Resources: kynect and workers
Evaluation: Talk with advisor to make sure I have a full understanding of the system.
Week 3
5. Learn about Medicare and Medicaid
Shadow Jill Athy
Read material pertaining to Medicare and Medicaid
Help work a case
Resources: Jill Athy, Medicare and Medicaid worker.
Evaluation: Talk with Jill to make sure I understand what her role is in the chfs
Week 3
6. Shadow food stamp case worker
Learn appropriate ways to interview clients
Sit in on a case
Talk to client to understand what they want in an interview
Resource: Advisor
Evaluation: Talk with advisor to make sure I fully understand
Week 4
7. Gain insight into cycles of need in public assistance and DPP
Read material over Cycles of Need
Observe workers working with Cycles of Need
Talk with workers to get full understanding of Cycles of Need
