Response to McDonalds Article
The society we live in today people are considered obese. Some individuals cannot help being a little thick due to heritage, female complications, etc. However, I think we should all watch our intakes. Knowing the calories of our favorite restaurant McDonalds will allow us to enjoy the delicious meals while watching what is going to those beautiful love handles. I strongly believe with the calorie counting app it would allow McDonalds to gain more customers, because it will show the customers that McDonalds care. Plus, customers including myself do want to know what more about the beverages and food. McDonalds is considered the largest food industry which means they are the chain to post calorie counts nation-wide. McDonalds has added placards. The placards list foods and beverages that are four hundred calories and under. This is a great idea because it will cause customers to get less than what they usually get. For example, a big Mac may have nine hundred calories versus a regular cheeseburger that has two hundred calories. Also, it would make Burger King, Checkers, and Wendys look bad; therefore, those restaurants would start to develop the calorie counting to keep them up with the economy and show the customers they car too. I would have to disagree with Sara Dean who stated “It had more to do with public relations than with improving public health, particularly as it related to children’s consumption of McDonald’s food. I believe with McDonalds adding the calorie counting is improving public health not public relations. I say that McDonald’s is improving public health because it is showing the economy what is good for them and what is bad, they are trying to influence the customers to choose healthier choice, but it is up to the customers to choose.
