What does Skin Colour Bring to a Mixed Race Woman?

Some commendations criticize Brack Obama for either being too black or not black enough. Obama’s mother is white while his father is from Kenya. Joy is a mixed race woman, whose situation can be related to Obama’s story. Her mother is Kenya and her father is a white man in the middle of America.
When Joy was born, nurses in the hospital described her as a black on her birth certificate. When Joy’s younger brother who looked remarkably like her was born, he was described white by staffs at the same hospital.
Joy’s experience of growing up in America makes her curious about how someone like her will feel in other countries. Thus, she decides to travel from countries to countries to find the real feeling of other mixed race children on the ground, Jamaica, Zimbabwe, Kenya and UK. In Joy’s eyes, she looks like very much a stereo base individual and a spice girl. Moreover, she defines herself as both black and mixed race, part of African American community. In her opinion, it is a new phenomenon that people from different races come together and have a mixed race baby which is quite common. In addition, because of her golden skin colour, she usually gets mistake for Latino, Pilipino and Thai Lander.
When she was growing up in the United States as a mixed race girl, she experienced two things at the same time: one is discrimination and prejudice against people who are African descendants; another is for her light skin, she got some privileges than others. For example, in school, teachers may think that she might be a bit brighter because of her colour of skin.
Among the countries she has traveled, Jamaica is the place where she is treated best. Due to her colour of the skin, people in Jamaica think she is rich and in bizarre situation and they give her much surprise. For instance, she will get the discount when buy something on the street and she get many marriage proposals as they think she...
