Diversities Representation

After laboring over many different options for this paper I have decided to present my paper on a news article in my local paper. The article describes what it refers to as the “wintertime blizzard of lay-offs” (Aversa, Jeannine). As the write illestrates how the recession has claimed more than 650,000 more of American’s job market for the third strait month resulting in what the writer refers to as leaving a pathway of “Human carnage”. As the recession has entered into the second year unemployment has reached its highest level in years with 4.4 million jobs having been lost since the start of this recession, there are another 12.5 million more people reportedly looking full time positions.
In bold headline, writer states “No one is immune” the rate for college graduates having their bachelor’s degree and above are hitting high points just as those whom do not have high school diplomas. (Aversa, Jeannine) Labor department reports just released show losses have come in all segments of the workforce that include white collar, blue collar in high paying and low paying job sectors. In fact people with bachelor degrees is at 4.1 percent while those without high school diplomas stands at 12.6 percent both of these groups are at their highest level in 17 years. “As the total unemployment rate hit a twenty-five year high at 8.1 percent the jobless rate for Black’s rose to 13.4percent while in the Hispanic population it rose to10.9 percent.
