Mental Health Issue Addressed: Bullying
Tasha, a slightly heavy set 14-year-old high school freshman, is the oldest child(out of 3 others) of a middle-class family. Tasha has a slightly well relationship with both of her parents but has barely and friends at school. Tasha has interests some people find strange. She likes both males and females and enjoys going to anime conventions. However, she is depressed and is considering considering harming herself because other students pick on her for being different. Tasha feels like she could quit on life and no one would even take notice.
Tasha is walking to the school bus one morning and while shuffling along the sidewalk, she notices Michael, another victim of bullying, sitting on the side of the road with a gloomy look upon his face. Tasha cautiously approaches Michael and asked him if there is something that she can do to make him smile. Michael gave it a thought before telling her his situation but felt it was necessary. He tells her about his experience with bullying and what they made fun of him for: Liking anime and being gay. He feels like she is all alone and has no one to talk to because he is
excluded among people throughout the school and his parents are always busy. All he wants is a friend.
Tasha and Michael begin to form a friendship after their conversation near the bus stop. They start to talk on the phone at least once every day and even sit by each other at lunch. They hang out twice a week and begin creating group costumes for upcoming conventions.
Michael was waiting for Tasha to come back out from the lunch line. Tasha was feeling a bit clumsy that day and didn’t know one of her shoe laces were untied.
