From what I have observed during this weeks assignment all of the areas discussed by Rue and Byars (2004) in Ch. 8 in Supervision: Key Link to Productivity (8th ed.) require some form of communication. Group norms and group cohesiveness require some form of communication; otherwise there would not be a reason to belong to the group. Group pressure, group conformity, groupthink, and group influence would not take place if people were not listening to information being communicated to them and, group leadership, group self-direction, and group communication would not occur if there were not any members of the group to listen.
