Data protection is keeping an individual’s personal details confidential and protecting the data stored about them. The legislations for data protection is known as the Data protection Act which controls how your personal information is used by organisations and businesses. It consists of the data protection principles which are Making sure the information is:

Used in a way that is acceptable, relevant, and not excessive
