Emerging Leadership Theories Analysis
Servant leadership means servant first. As a servant leader you must put others in front of your self which is not an easy task and because it is not often implemented in company structure. The attributes of a servant leadership can come in a myriad of ways but each are equally important to reach your overall goal of efficient and successful leadership. The characteristics of servant leadership include empathy, healing, awareness, persuasion, conceptualization, foresight, stewardship, commitment to the growth of people and building community (Kreitner & Kinicki, 2010). In my opinion, the most important attribute to servant leadership is the commitment to helping the growth of people and community in which you live. In regards to my current occupation, this would be very beneficial to both the staff and leadership team if implementation of this attribute would take place. By committing to help an individual grow both professionally and personally, not only provides the organization with a more efficient employee, but also a better person morally and ethically. As a servant leader committing one's time, energy, and resources to benefit the personal growth of another, builds mutual trust and accountability from within. Trust in another person is gradual and is not given after simple professional interaction. If the person that your are invested in is aware that you sincerely have interest in their growth and development, bonds are created thus a more productive employee and work environment will arise.
An example of doing this would be perhaps taking new teachers under your wing and mentoring them. The sense of camaraderie and knowing that they are not in this alone will dictate the environment in which they produce. The importance of the commitment...
