1. According to Communication: Principles for a Lifetime (2013), what is the definition of communication? What are the fundamentals of communication? What does communication mean to you personally? Provide an example.




Communication is conveying messages through messages , perceptions, knowledge, and also exchange of thoughts , writing and ones behavior . Communication is meaningful information exchanged between two or more living creatures and communication can be intention or unintentional any may involve conventional or unconventional signs. To me, communication is two or more people exchanging information to each other whether it is through verbal communication, email or text message or even written on paper. You can communicate in many different ways and people and even animals have their own way of communication to each other as well.



2. Describe the differences between linear, interactional, and transactional communication.


The linear model entails only a one way form of communication in that a message is sent and the receiver receives it, this is a one dimensional form of communication. An interactional model provides not only the message sent but also the message that is received and replied to by the receiver and the sender as well. A transactional model entails not only the sending and receiving of the message but also the inclusion of nonverbal communications.

Linear model of communication- one way view of communication that assumes a message is sent by a source to a receiver through a channel source originator or transmitter of message.
