Observation #1
My first observation is on the book Two Bobbies by Kirby Larson and Mary Nethery. This book was about a dog and a cat which hated each other. When their hometown of New Orleans was struck by Hurricane Katrina, they were forced to help one another. It was the only way they could survive. They became famous and were adopted by a family. Later, it came to everyone’s attention that the cat, Bob, was blind and the dog, Bobbie, was his seeing eye dog throughout the hurricane.
Two Bobbies was an excellent chose because it relates to the hurricanes. It is a book that children can relate to at this time because we just experienced a hurricane. It can be used to enhance a lesson on weather because it relates to local ecology.

My second observation is on the book Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes written by Mem Fox and Helen Oxenbury. This is a great book for teaching children how to count. It is a good book for the ages four to eight years old. There are rhyming words and repetition of quotes which draw children’s attention because they can get involved in the story telling. The book has outstanding pictures which are very detailed.
I believe Mrs. Williams chose this book because of the repetition. She did a great job reading this book to the class and getting us involved. She seemed to be very interested in the book which was obvious to the class and makes the class interested.

Observation #3
My third observation was on the book Slowly, Slowly, Slowly said the Sloth by Eric Carle. This book is written to attract children ages four to eight. It can be read to teach children about animals outside of their environment. A sloth is a three-toed animal which lives in the Amazon rain forest and is very, very slow. I did not know what a sloth was until this book was read to me.
