Report Description
An optical transreciever is an integrated circuit (IC) which uses fibre optic technology to
communicate between devices. Optical transreciever uses fibre to the premises (FTTP)
service, in which the optical fibre passes from the central hubs to the end users. This
provides high speed internet access to the end users. An optical transreciever is also used
to transmit and receive telephonic communications and digital telephonic broadcasts.
Optical transceivers are not just data centres but also carriers and hence plays an
important role in creating high speed network infrastructures.
Optical transreciever use laser diodes to transmit and receive information. Laser diodes
with the help of light and mirrors, transfers the information from electrical state to a state
using visible light and back. With the improvement in technology, optical transceivers are
becoming smaller and smarter. Light carries information faster than any electric
component making them effective for communication also because of its smaller size it
can be easily spaced within the physical body of housing circuit device.
