A person brought up by authoritative parents may seek independence in a total different way than other people. These parents demand mature behavior at a young age, so the child will already have a since of independence. This helps the child to develop into a stronger independent person in the long run. They will not have to venture off and try to figure out what independence means to them since they were demanded of mature behavior to begin with.
A person brought up by authoritarian parents will seek independence totally different from someone brought up by authoritative parents. They seek independence due to overbearing parents who demand obedience without a reason. The child may seek independence due to the lack of reason. They may seek independence because they are tired of their parents demanding obedience and they may want to show their parents that they do not have to listen to them anymore. The reason for independence could be an endless list.
A person brought up by permissive parents will seek independence in a different way from people brought up by authoritative and authoritarian parents. A child may not look for independence at the normal age because they are free to do whatever they want to do from a young age. They may seek independence after high school due to their going off to college or they may never seek independence at all due to the fact that they were allowed to do whatever they wanted to from a young age.
