I read Technical Foul by Rich Wallace. The main character was Jared. Jared was in the middle of a basketball game when the ball came to him. He went down court to score a basket to win the game. Three of his teammates wide open for the shot, but Jared took a fade away and missed. They lost the game. The next day they had another game, but during that game, Jared kept getting fouled. So when he went up to shoot, he got fouled and the ref didn’t call it. Jared got furious and yelled at the referee, “you need glasses”. “That is a technical foul on number 23”, the referee said. Jared couldn’t believe it. One of Jared’s teammates came over and said “come on man”. Jared gave him a shove. “Number 23 is out of the game” said the ref. So Jared took a seat on the bench. Following the game Jared’s team lost at the other teams gym, Jared and his teammate almost got into a fight, but the two of them worked it out. Later that night, Jared realized that the coach would not let him play the next game. Jared’s mom told him that they might be able to see the next game that Jared couldn’t play. Jared had to tell his mom and dad that he couldn’t play in the next game. The next night Jared got it together and became friends with his teammate and ended up winning the regular season games. Then they went to the play-offs and they played a team that beat them earlier in the season. Jared’s team ended up beating them also. The true challenge came when they were in there second playoff game. This team was really tough to beat. Jared’s team got beat by them earlier, so they had to play extra hard and it was at the other team’s gym. Jared’s team was down most of the game, but near the end of the game they got a lead. In the fourth quarter, Jared’s team ended up winning the game. Jared’s team was in the championship! In the championship, the two teams were evenly matched.
