Why the Poem Domestic Work Should Be Included in the Plan for a Local 11th Grade English Class
The 11th grade English is a very crucial class in the educational curriculum of the United States of America. 11th grade covers a relatively wide range of courses since it is an advanced level of high school. Among the courses in the 11th grade, one can find the Advanced Placement English, commonly abbreviated as AP English. 11th grade AP English Literature class offers a comprehensive coverage of the American literature which is widely based on the rich American history. Students taking this course analytically read various literature materials. According to the California Department of Education, some of the widely covered genres in the 11th grade include poetry, drama, novels, fiction and non-fiction stories Therefore, the 11th grade English class covers literature with its various forms whereby students explore new reading and writing skills of different literary works (67).
Studying literature at an advanced level, the course content ought to be more comprehensive, but most important, it should be specific about its purpose that should be achieved by the students. The course should develop a culture of analytical reading among the students, as well as the ability to do an individual composition whether on literary and other common topics. It is the course to help students argue persuasively with factual opinions on any matter discussed. The course should as well have the relation to the students’ real life situations both in school and outside it.
Of profound importance is for the course to offer good life lessons to the students as a form of preparedness to exit from school. Therefore, whatever the students learn in class, it should be applicable in the real life scenarios (California Department of Education 78).
