The military is one organization that has used I/O psychology to select and train employees for a very long time. They previously had a hard time matching people with jobs that fit them. This led to the implementation of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). The score that a recruit earns on this test will determine if they are qualified to join the military. The scores also tell how qualified a person may be for different jobs the military has to offer. To be an officer in the military recruits have to pass a test to get into Officer Candidate School or complete 4 years of Reserve Officers’ Training Corps in college.
In retail, it is hard to find good loyal employees who are going to work hard to make an organization successful. Today, many retail companies have online assessments to find the people they are looking for. These tests can ask questions about an applicant’s personality and also about how they would react in certain situations.
