The purpose of this study is to take a closer look at attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The authors of the study focused on the high rate of diagnosis and asked whether or not this rate is extreme (Miller, Nigg&Faraone, 2007).
I consider the most important issue raised in this study to be the lack of subtypes in diagnosing adults with ADHD. Daniel and Carmen, I agree with your points that adults don’t really exhibit symptoms of ADHD in the same way that children do. If this is true, which I believe that this study has proven, why then do we continue to diagnose adults with the same type of disorder that we diagnose children with?
