Religion in schools face many different views by many different people. Identity is also constructed through religious or also knows as religious identity. By not allowing religion to be in schools could alter many students religious identity to change or to be effected. There are a few different factors that could help alter religious identities in either way. These include ethnic differences, gender difference, and adolescence years. They should let religion in schools because like stated religion is a major component of shaping identity of a person.
Ethic differences along the sides of minorities play a role in religious identity. Studies have shown that ethnic minorities tend to show higher levels of religious identity. Allowing religion to be in schools would allow minorities to practice what they believe in at schools helping their social identity and can relate with other students through this. Schools already have clubs and organizations like one of the most known, Fellowship of Christian Athletes. These bond students together and help create identity between the kids and help them grow in their religions together. Taking these away from schools would take away these chances for the students to grow together and develop appropriate identities to certain religions.
Another factor that plays into religious identities is gender differences. Studies have captured this through females being known to attend and have greater religious attitudes. Females are more likely to be involved in church related activities than males and are more likely to view themselves as religious over males. Obviously females are to have a greater religious identity being more involved and open about their beliefs. This being an important aspect of their lives and can only pursue this if they are open to believe what they want at all times.
