SAILORS CREED

What the sailors creed means to me

I am a United States Sailor. I will support and defend the
constitution of the United States of America, and I will obey the
orders of those appointed over me. I represent the fighting spirits of
the Navy and those who have gone before me to defend freedom and
democracy around the world. I proudly serve my countries Navy combat
team with honor, courage and commitment. I am committed to excellence
and the fair treatment of all.

A creed is defined as a set of fundamental beliefs; a guiding
principal. The current version of the sailor's creed has been around
since 1993, and has been said by every sailor, from the lowest of
enlisted to the highest of officers, since 1994. The Sailor's Creed is a guideline as
how every sailor lives their life, does their job, and performs for
our country, not just in uniform but also in our personal lives
as well. Being a sailor in the navy we must adapt our life around our
creed. Everything we say and do has to represent that Sailor's Creed, if our words and actions don't our effectiveness and productiveness as a sailor will decrease.

There are many parts to the sailor's creed. Each having different
meanings, each guiding a different part of our lives and naval career,
and each of which dictate who I am and how I act as a United States
