May 2008 Earthquake In China Could Be Followed By Another Significant Rapture
In the article I read that due to the movement of the faults, China might be looking at another rapture. On May 12th, 2008 China encountered an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.9. Due to that earthquake in China it brought all nearby faults much closer together leaving the doubt of another major earthquake to occur in that region. Geophysicists make some experiments to calculate stress change along the Kunlun, Min Jiang, and Xianshuihe faults.
After having done calculations the Geophysicists found that due to the earthquake that occurred the probability of future earthquakes on those faults has doubled. They also were able to estimate a 57%-71% chance of another earthquake to occur in the next decade with the magnitude of a 6 or even higher. It also stated than an 8%-12% of an earthquake higher then a 7 to hit in the next decade, and 23%-31% in the next 30 years.
“Researchers see it as a domino-like effect, where the movement of one piece of Earths crust means that another piece must move up, down, or away. While the stress in the crust gets reduced in some locations, it is transferred to other faults nearby”. After the earthquake occurred on the 12th of May, large aftershocks were witnessed the 1st and 5th of August in Sichuan.
The earthquake of May killed 69,000 people and left a whopping 5,000,000 homeless. The May earthquake was rated one of the deadliest as well as strongest to hit China since the Tangshan earthquake, which killed 240,000 in 1976.
