Science vs. Religion
Religion is currently slowing and will soon stop our scientific research and progression. Recently a large burst of religious parents have stopped letting their children have vaccinations causing sickness to spread even more and slowing the production of new medicine. Religion is limiting our research in cloning, not just from cloning beings but from cloning food and resources. Religion is also stopping our progress into space exploration. Believing this planet was created for us, we should not leave it to colonize others. They also try to deny the fact of other life in the universe and refuse to let us look further to make contact with other beings.
In religion there are many who don’t believe vaccines are bad for children, but the numbers of people that do are overwhelming. Approximately 3-5 million parents in the world stop their children from gaining a healthier and more care free life. The worst thing is that some of these religions don’t even really have a problem with it now. Just one scripture or spokesperson of a religion can change thousands of mind sets. One Christian text in the Bible teaches: “That there are unclean animals and that we are not to put the unclean into our bodies (Deuteronomy 14). – Vaccines are made from blood products and tissue of animals”. Another Islamic writing says: “O mankind! What has made you careless concerning your Lord, the Most Generous? Who created you, fashioned you, and gave you due proportion; in whatever form He willed, He put you together.” (Qur’an 82:6-8). It is good to balance spirituality with life but when that life is being threatened by that belief something has to be done to save not just one life, but many others.
Religion is among the most powerful factors shaping attitudes toward human reproductive cloning. Cloning was just starting in leaps and bounds before religion started shutting down testing. Many priests and holy men saw testing this...
