TOPIC: A Descriptive Study on the Preference of Filipino Teenagers in Choosing Music: OPM / Foreign
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:
The main problem of the study is to determine the preference of Filipino teenagers (16-18 years old) in choosing music between Original Pilipino Music and Foreign Music.
1. What are the respondents’ profiles: age, gender, socio-economic status?
2. What are the respondent’s musical preference (OPM or Foreign)?
3. Is there a relationship between the respondent’s profile and music preference?
4. What are the reasons why Filipino Teenagers prefer (OPM/Foreign) music?
While most Filipino teenagers would view OPM as deep and heavy love ballads, many could see foreign music as upbeat, catchy and happy songs that made it a hit in the local industry.
The word music came from the Greek word “mousik” which means any art presided over by the muses.

Historically, music started in the13th Century, it has several division through ages such as ancient, medieval and the modern period.
