Self-Assessment Personality
By earning my MBA through the University of Phoenix I hope to gain the knowledge and tools to further my career. I work for Union Pacific Railroad as a Train Dispatcher and would some day like to find myself in a position with more responsibility and better money. I would love to grow with this company and in order for this to happen I need to familiarize myself with the world of business.
According to my personality assessment people may perceive me as strong, enthusiastic, and good humored. I am also often viewed as fun loving, spontaneous, adventurous, as a risk taker, and a pragmatic troubleshooter. These are characteristics can be viewed as a positive or negative influence in management. The above traits can be looked at from a positive standpoint in that a good manager can relate to their employees. People skills are very important in order for a manager to have a successful outcome. On the flip side, these traits may harm my career. Managers need to be in control of their employees; there can be no confusion between professional and personal relationships. There needs to be some kind of balance between the two sides.
Simple answers are never available to resolve complex ethical issues. I always take into consideration my personal values, morals, principles, and standards. Having to compromise any of these within the workplace puts me in a compromising and challenging situation. I have strong personal convictions and was raised to always uphold my morals and beliefs. Along with having my own values, morals, principles and standards, I always uphold the laws, regulations, rules, policies and relevant codes of ethics that apply to the company I have chosen to work for, Union Pacific.
