A Good Day to Be Me
“Honey wake up or you’ll be late!” “I’m going”, says John. This was the big day he had been expecting, this was the day he was going to get his big promotion. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, John knew it was going to be a great day; or so he thought. Stepping out of his small, brownish colored house he leaped into his small four-door old 98’ Toyota, and drove off to work. Traveling thru the busy morning streets of Los Angeles was no fun, in all the commotion of the traffic John got tangled up and his old 98’ broke down. He seemed to have flattened a tire. Eager to get to work, for his big promotion, he quickly moved his car to the side of the road and called a mechanic to tow and fix his car. The mechanic only took about 1 hour and a half to finally arrive. Given that he had already waited a very long time for the mechanic to arrive John just decided to walk the rest of the way to work and pick his car up after. Once he got there his boss quickly called him into his office. “John, get in here!” John sounding somewhat frightened of the 6’0 foot 251 pound CEO quickly answered “y...y…yes sir.”
“Now I’ve been meaning to talk to you, do you know what about?” John thinking it was about the promotion answered “yes.” “Good so then this will be a lot easier, you’re fired.” “Thank you so much sir, you won’t regret this! Wait what, fired!!?” “Yes you’re fired John, have your desk cleaned out by noon.” “But ho...How could this have happened I thought I was getting the promotion??” “No John I already gave that spot to Larry.” “This is bullshit!” yelled John. “Okay that’s it get your things and leave, now.” Having been with that same company for almost 12 years John didn’t know what he was going to do, bills pilling up, possible divorce, the bill for his old Toyota, and now losing his job, he had a lot to think about.
