Western Society’s encounters with Different Cultures in the movie Babel

The Western society has come to many different conclusions regarding other countries based on nothing but its location on the map. Through Inaritu’s movie Babel, he examines the racism and prejudices that nations have against each other based on actions that have happened in the past. Mr. Inaritu also examines areas that people do not take the time to look at but are a big part of the racism and prejudices that the world has today. To continue proving the point that the media shows what they want to get across, they forget about telling the whole truth and in the end lie to make stories look better. These images that are put into one’s head in addition to the influences the family has one them leads to assumptions that are not necessarily true which in the end have rash decisions. The director uses the worlds thoughts on others and shows them in the movie Babel contradicting each other and shows the assumptions nations have about others and vice-versa. The Western society media plays a very important role on how we view the world compared to how it actually is. While sleeping on the tour bus Susan Jones an American tourist gets shot by a rifle which two boys shot. In the look for help her husband Richard calls the United States Embassy, telling them that his wife has been shot and he needs medical help.
