“Soldiers, Past and Present….America Honor your Veterans”
Soldiers are people who serve in an army or other military services. Soldiers are heroes. A hero is somebody who commits an act of remarkable bravery or who has shown great courage, strength of character, or another admirable quality. Past and present soldiers have shown many of these qualities of a hero. They have changed the world which has shown people that they are dedicated to what they do. For many of us who have not been involved with the armed forces, we do not know how life changing and dramatic it is. When people enroll to become a soldier and save the country they are changing their own lives. Seeing all of the problems and issues involved with wars people get another perspective on life. They begin to think differently and view problems in different ways. Coming back from war and seeing people complaining about tiny problems such as a light bulb being burned out in their house is looked at as a worthless issue to someone who has been in a life and death situation. Why worry about these little things that can be fixed in a minute when the real problem is saving America and the people who live in it.
America’s soldiers are called veterans, people who have served in the armed forces. They are not called veterans just because they have served in the armed forces but also for showing America that they can help it stay strong and alive. In the United States we honor the veterans by having Veterans Day. Veterans Day shows all the soldiers from the past and present that we are thankful for what they do for America. Not only what they do, but for making America a better place to live. Veterans Day acquired its present name and broadened significantly in the U.S. in 1954. The veterans should be honored and respected for their motivation of making America a great place.
