Accidents
What happened? Something terrible. Something bad. Why can’t I remember?
I can hear the people around me trying to get a response as I lie here lifeless, trapped in my own prison, alone and slowly numbing. Another shock ripples through my body, than an intense pain and suddenly I am numb. “Can you feel this?” I hear a voice say urgently. Can I feel what? Is he touching me or moving me.
Suddenly the pain is back only worse pushing against my skin wanting to escape. How long have I been lying here and how long have I been stuck. I can’t remember who I am, where I am or how I came to be unable to move.
My thoughts are distracted by the sound of a siren and the cutting off of an engine. “He has lost a lot of blood” I hear a firm voice say. There was a long pause “We may have to air lift him” he said. Suddenly my body is trembling and my thoughts are silent.
I can no longer hear anyone. Everything is silent, except the beeping sound every few seconds. I feel the warmth of a hand touching my head and running it’s fingers through my hair. “Michael wake up, I need you” a voice suddenly says. I feel my eyes struggling to open.
Everything is so bright, she is standing there with a child on her hip, hair in a messy bun with clothes that look ten times too big on her. “Oh, Michael, I thought you were going to die” she put the child down and wrapped her arms around me. Who is this woman I looked at her confused and expectantly hoping for her to say something further.
