Splanglish
My mother is an American, born and rises in New Jersey with Polish parents and my father was born in Puerto Rico with Puertorrican parents, but he was rise in Puerto Rico and New Jersey.
My parents married young, and they lived in New Jersey on their first six years of their marriage, after the seventh year they decided to move to Puerto Rico, for my father was a easy move, he knows how to write, read and speak Spanish, but for my mother was different, she only knows English, and she doesn’t know any Spanish at all.
After a few years in Puerto Rico my mother was learning how to speak Spanish, but it was not Spanish what she was speaking was Spanghish, but she was trying hard to put the corrects words in a Spanish sentence, every where she went she will do her best and there were always someone that knew English and there will help her.
After a few more years she was getting better, but again was Spanghish and not Spanish. One day my brother got in a big trouble in school and the principal requested for my mother or father to go to school and talk about my brother, do that in my family my father was the one working and my mother was a house wife she was the one that went to the school to talk to the principal, has he requested.
My mother went to the school office with my brother and ask for the principal, the principal introduces himself and start with the meeting, in the middle of the meeting my brother excuses himself and went to the restroom. My mother and the principal kept talking about my brother, and when my brother came back he sow my mother in tears, she was so upset that she could not even talk to my brother in English to explain what happened, my brother was telling to my mother over and over again (mom I am sorry, but the teacher did disrespect me) not knowing that she was crying because the principal was making fun of my mother because her broken Spanish (Spanglish), when finally my mother calm down that is when my brother found...
