Statement of Purpose:
Rushing to the library early in the morning to grab the copies of Time and Economist (which are in
high demand in my university library due to less number of copies and large number of students),
going all alone to attend the international conference on international relations in Singapore against
all odds and reservations from my surroundings, devoting maximum time of the day in the cabins of
professors discussing the pressing issues of the world, spending hours in the library on weekends
and trying to re-read some chapters of Globalization and World Politics (John Baylis, Steve Smith and
Patricia Owens) to re-understand and uncover the layered meanings of the theories, missing the
meals but not the 30 minutes daily news on Television, reading newspaper as the second activity of
the day after brushing my teeth and customising my Twitter and Facebook pages and allowing only
updates by various newspapers and international organizations on my home page – describe in
nutshell my life in last 3 years. Therefore, it seems to me that there is an inner drive in me to explore
the fascinating and multidimensional field of International Studies.
With a minor in International Relations, and exposure to subjects like Introduction to International
Relations, Indian Foreign Policy, India and the World, Comparative Constitutions and Politics I (US,
China, UK, Russia and France), Comparative Constitutions and Politics II (Switzerland, Japan, Brazil
and South Africa), Indian Governance and Politics, World Civilizations etc., I have gained a significant
background of different socio-political aspects of International Relations. With my major in Business
Administration, I have been able to understand Globalization in the context of business to business
relations, business to consumer relations, business to government relations and relations between
